White Bluff Presbyterian Church is seeking a Tutor for its Tutoring Program. Children are referred by a local public elementary school because they would benefit from one-on-one attention to improve their academic and social skills. Students meet in 40-minute sessions with tutors to work on math, reading, and writing skills. When they are not with their tutors, students engage in fun activities in the “Big Room.” The Tutoring Program will operate every Thursday from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. from September – April, except public school holidays. The program values regular communication among teachers, tutors, students, and parents.
The Tutors are responsible for helping to develop students’ academic skills. They will help students identify goals and support the students in reaching their goals through activities to supplement students’ homework. Each tutor will be assigned three students. Tutors will be required to be at the program each week from September through April except public school holidays. Teaching experience is helpful but not required. Compensation will be $30 per week.
If you are interested in a Tutoring position, please send a résumé or letter describing your interest and experience to Rose Slusser by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail at 10710 White Bluff Road, Savannah, GA 31406, by August 15, 2017. Applicants selected for interviews will be required to provide names and phone numbers of three references. All staff will be required to submit to a background check. For more information, contact Rose Slusser at 912-927-1731 or the e-mail address above. White Bluff Presbyterian Church welcomes applications from anyone, regardless of religious affiliation.
