From 2006-2009, White Bluff Presbyterian Church sponsored 11 week-long mission trips to assist with recovery on the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. Adults and youth from our church used their skills to rebuild homes destroyed by the storm. The trips opened the eyes of our congregation in new ways to the power and love of our Creator which we discovered while living and serving in community with each other and with the strangers whose homes we rebuilt.
Since the recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina have been completed, we have continued to find projects to use our skills in service to Christ. Our congregation built a deck at Swainsboro Presbyterian Apartments, an apartment complex in rural Swainsboro for seniors and disabled people who have low incomes. Members of our church also assist Hospice Savannah by constructing ramps and doing other repairs to make their patients’ homes accessible.
