The Tutoring Program

In early 2010, White Bluff Presbyterian Church launched our new Tutoring Program in partnership with White Bluff Elementary School.  Every Thursday afternoon, 15 students come to the church from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. While they are at the church, they have a snack and receive one-on-one tutoring from a caring adult.  When they are not with their tutors, the students participate in activities such as crafts, games, cooking, and getting to know special guests.  The program offers individual attention, academic support, and a caring environment to learn and play.

We have been gratified at the success of this program.  Teachers and parents told us about the improvement they saw in the students in their academic work, their attitudes, their behavior, and their self-confidence.  And, students and tutors alike enjoyed getting to know each other and working together for the students’ success.
